In a family with six children, nobody wants to be stuck with that "middle child" syndrome. Born the third child to a composer and a grade school teacher in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the Hyatt family was by no means wealthy, but also never seemed to want for much. With two older brothers, Alice came into the Hyatt family and effectively ended the run of the little "boys club" they had going there. For the first few of years of her life, her brothers were apparently none too happy about having a baby sister tagging along after them. They soon got over that when the next baby came along, another girl, and Alice proved she could run right alongside her brothers. She found it easy to adjust to being "one of the boys" or the "leader of the girls" in the family. The twins came along when Alice was nine, which completed the tight group of children born into the Hyatt family. Instead of becoming the "middle child" who never quite felt like she fit in, Alice just acclimated to being whatever was needed in her family. She could easily be a "wing man" for her brothers, or a fashion advisor to her younger sisters.

The product of an incredibly Catholic upbringing (French and Italian, Lord help them), Alice went to private schools as a child, complete with uniforms and instructors who served as reinforcement for her parents' strict values. While she didn't much mind her sheltered life as a child, as she grew into her teenage years, she balked against it. She was one of those girls in her Catholic school who rolled up her skirt a few inches when the nuns weren't looking and spent in-between class breaks smoking in the bathroom with her friends. She got in trouble on more than a few occasions for "inappropriate behavior," when she insisted on playing touch-football on school grounds with the boys. No matter how much she disliked the rules and regulations of school, learning itself, she adored. She seemed fascinated by everything else she learned from various classes, but it was always the creative subjects where she excelled. Her father had taught her to play the piano as soon as she could reach the keys, and while she didn't think she'd ever become a concert pianist or anything of the like, her father encouraged the creative side of herself.

Being so artistically inclined from a young age, Alice's mother decided it was only right to nurture such creativity. Or rather, her father encouraged her mother, who finally came around. When an open casting call came to Toronto, her father brought home the news and offered to take her out. A reboot of a popular variety show series from the 50's, Alice went through several rounds of auditioning before she finally landed a coveted spot on the cast. At fifteen, Alice was moving away from her home in Canada to live with other cast members in Orlando, Florida. It was a sacrifice for her family, her mother following her for the duration of her first year with the show. It was several months away from their family, but the acting bug bit her, and bit hard. Her mother made her a compromise, that she could move out on her own, but she had to keep up with her schoolwork. The cast had tutors, so that wasn't hard to agree to. As a teenager, having the run of Disneyworld with ever-limited parental supervision was about the craziest thing she could have imagined. Alice would periodically get very homesick, but her drive was in her, and it was hard to give up.

Alice spent three years with on the MMC before her contract was up and it was time to move on. Performing was great for the time that she'd spent there, but at eighteen, she was ready for a new challenge, and different ones at that. The variety show style of the MMC had given her such an opportunity to dip her hands into several different pockets, and one she was always fascinated with was getting behind the camera. She'd talk to their directors, and she seemed to be chomping at the bit for an opportunity to do something herself. That opportunity came almost immediately after leaving the MMC, when a former assistant came to her with the proposition to work on a music video for his buddy's band there in Florida. The pair teamed up to direct several music videos, where Alice really was able to get her footing in the director's seat. It was where she thrived, where her education and work on the MMC really paid off for her. After just her first video, she moved with her co-director to California, where she kept working on small-time music videos while concurrently attending USC. She was able to get work as a camera assistant, and eventually an AD on set of several small films, but she kept her music video career going, practically taking any job that was offered her, so long as she could work it around her school schedule. In her time at USC, she never took a semester off, instead powering through even summer semesters to finish much sooner than the normal four-year schedule.

Graduating college had always been a big priority for Alice, but it was very much her norm to be able to balance school with her work. Blame the way she went through high school while working, but her work ethic stuck and only increased during her years at USC. Upon graduation, Alice had already earned a good reputation within the music video world, where she had been praised for her inspired and imaginative approach to videos. She had always been an incredibly visual person, which translated so well for her into directing music videos. Her work had always been on a smaller scale, at least going for B, C, D List musicians, but just shortly upon her graduation, she signed with a production company that would take her career to an entirely different level. It seemed as though she was on track to being one of the most sought-after video directors, pulling in A-list names like Jennifer Lopez, Aerosmith, Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Janet Jackson, amongst many others. During that time, she also directed several commercials for major brand companies.

Though Alice was extremely fulfilled doing music videos, that wasn't her end goal in the slightest. She vied for several director spots over the years, but was finally handed the reigns of Constantine in 2005. Again, her very visual style of directing came very much into play. She was both terrified and exhilarated to take on such a project, but she could see it through every shot, every page. It made sense that her first big foray into film was a very visually heavy film. While the film was met with about a 50/50 response from fans and critics alike, Alice was incredibly proud of the work she had done in line with that cast and crew. She immediately knew that she wanted to do more action-based films, but films that she could still find an emotional connectivity to. She signed on with DNA INC., where she continued directing music videos and commercials in between her film projects.

Over her time spent in Hollywood, Alice has garnered a reputation of having very collaborative sets, but being very much dedicated to the work. She has the habit of putting on "blinders" while working on a film especially, where she gets her tunnel-vision over the work she's doing. Her life's passion is her work, and that is clear to anyone who works with her. Alice enjoyed a lot of anonymity when she was directing music videos, but was well aware that as she took increasingly high profile projects, her personal life might be pulled into any sort of spotlight as well. Thankfully, she hasn't run into much of that at all. Alice did take a big personal step for herself in 2010, when she officially came out gay. She had privately been a proud member of the LGBT community, but never thought it was particularly important to make a statement about it, being a much more private person than that. The only change it had was in her personal life, when she could so happily feel as though she wasn't even attempting to hide anything.

In 2012, her agent called her in a very hush-hush deal that they slowly began working on. Rumor had it that the first director of The Hunger Games franchise wasn't going to be returning for the following films, and her agents had set up a meeting with the studio. Alice was more driven towards that project than maybe any she had done before. She loved the source material, and honestly felt like heading up a film franchise that had such a strong female lead was something she desperately wanted to sink her teeth into. Several meetings, and a few stressful pitch meetings later, and Alice was officially signed on to helm the remainder of The Hunger Games trilogy. Taking on the project has been both the most exhausting and rewarding experience in her career, and while she's in the thick of it, she is taking every opportunity she can to make each film the best yet. Though Alice still will film the occasional music video, she is focusing her career mainly on film, and the occasional television show.
